Two Hundred People Joined Eilian
RCE Chairman Jim Perry introduced Romanian special guests Ciprian and RCE psychologist and social worker, Cara Bolos. Emilian, now living at Darius House, seemed to take all the excitement in stride. He rode a scooter along the trail with Mr. Perry charming everyone with his cute smile and never ending chatter, which is miraculous since Emilian could not talk when he came to RCE two years ago. The miracle of his life gave testimony to the goodness and mercy of God who rescued him.

| Cara, Otilia, and Ciprian |
Otilia, another special guest at the Walk a Thon, came from Darius House to the US in 2004. She remembers Ciprian as her favorite teacher at Sunshine because, ‘he always made us laugh’. Today Otilia lives with her American family and is RCE’s ‘resident ambassador’ from Darius House. She enjoyed riding the trail with her friends and teammates from the Fairfax Falcon Wheelchair Basketball team.
Emilian’s story is miraculous. Like so many other children he suffered through a series of state orphanages and due to neglect and abuse appeared to have serious disabilities. His official diagnosis was profound retardation. He was seven and could not speak when he came to RCE with deep emotional scars that had kept his bright little mind from blossoming. But now he is making up for lost time asking all the ‘why’ questions of any normally inquisitive 9 year old. Emilian is being mainstreamed into a regular school in Romania but still needs extra help in catching up with his peers. His story isn’t over. RCE is seeking a Christian family to adopt this very special little boy.
Please join us in praying for Emilian and all the other 29 Darius House children who desperately need to be restored to families as God designed.
Special thanks go to Derrick Harris, youth director of McLean Presbyterian Church, who encouraged his youth group to participate and provided great live music. Thanks also to the many families of Ambleside School, Fourth Presbyterian Church, and all the dedicated young people who biked long miles to raise funds so that children like Emilian can have a future and a hope.
